Xovis people counting and analytics
You own the Xovis 3D sensors. We turn their counts and occupancy into privacy-first footfall analytics, on a platform approved by a data protection authority. No personal images ever leave the sensor.
Works with Xovis PC2, PC3 and PF series sensors. Counts and occupancy in, no images stored.
Why process Xovis data with Bumbee Labs
-
Proven 3D accuracy
Xovis 3D stereo-vision sensors count and track with high accuracy, even in crowds and changing layouts, so the numbers your team acts on hold up.
-
Privacy by design
Only metadata leaves the sensor, never video or images. We run it as privacy-first analytics that meet GDPR by design, with no individual identified.
-
AI extensions, on demand
Switch on demographics, group counting, staff exclusion, view direction or object detection when a use case needs them, all from the same hardware.
-
Large areas, fewer sensors
Multisensor tracking and wide-area PF sensors cover big spaces with fewer units, then feed one set of dashboards across every site.
From Xovis sensor to decision
-
Connect
We bring your existing Xovis sensors into our platform over their standard data protocols, on site or to the cloud. No rip-and-replace.
-
Process
Counts, tracks and occupancy are turned into clean, validated KPIs. Only metadata is handled, never personal images.
-
Analyse
View footfall, dwell, queues, zone flows and demographics in dashboards, or pull everything through the API into your own systems.
-
Act
Staff to demand, manage capacity safely, prove campaign impact and report to stakeholders on numbers you can defend.
What data you get from Xovis sensors
Your Xovis sensors already capture the raw signal. We turn it into the KPIs teams plan around:
- Exact in / out counts (directional line-crossing)
- Real-time occupancy against safe capacity limits
- Dwell time and queue length at entrances and zones
- Zone flows, paths and capture rate across a floor
- Demographics, group counting and object detection (AI extensions)
- Peaks, trends and utilisation over time
For whole-space behaviour and catchment beyond the sensor's view, combine Xovis data with our Wi-Fi and cellular methods.
You own the sensors. We make the data work harder.
Plenty of teams have invested in Xovis 3D sensors and still feel one step removed from the insight they were promised. The hardware is excellent, but the data sits in a tool that does not fit how you plan, or the privacy setup has never been signed off, or each site reports its numbers differently.
That is the gap we close. Bumbee Labs takes the metadata your Xovis sensors already produce and turns it into footfall analytics you can act on: exact counts, real-time occupancy, dwell, queues, zone flows and demographics, all in one platform with a privacy posture you can defend. No new sensors, no rip-and-replace, no compromise on accuracy.
What teams do with Xovis analytics
The examples below are illustrative of what this kind of 3D sensor analytics makes possible across sectors. They show the shape of the value, not specific client results.
Retail and showrooms
In a furniture or fashion setting, exact entrance counts give your in-store conversion rate a denominator you can trust, and dwell data shows which displays actually hold attention. One illustrative case: a furniture retailer in the UK kept counting accurate even as showroom layouts changed every few weeks, and used capture rate and dwell to re-plan the floor, lifting browse-to-buy conversion by a high single-digit percentage. With the staff-exclusion and demographics extensions, an apparel chain can align staffing to the customers actually in store rather than to a flat rota.
Transport and airports
Automatic Passenger Counting from 3D sensors delivers stable, high-accuracy counts even in crowded vehicles and on busy platforms. A regional transport operator can use that data to share ticket revenue fairly between lines, right-size services to real demand and report to regulators on numbers that hold up to scrutiny. At an airport, occupancy and flow at security and shuttle points help cut waiting times and steer staff to the queues that are actually building.
Buildings and campuses
Occupancy data turns a building from a guess into a managed asset. A large university campus, for example, can see which rooms and buildings sit underused, then consolidate space and dial heating, cooling and lighting to actual presence, cutting the running cost of low-use areas by roughly a fifth and supporting net-zero targets. The same live occupancy supports safety limits and smarter cleaning and reception schedules.
Events, venues and attractions
When tens of thousands of people move through a space in a day, real-time occupancy per zone is a safety tool, not a nice-to-have. A large event venue can watch density build zone by zone and act before a bottleneck forms. A historic city landmark can count visitors accurately enough to plan staffing, measure whether a promotional campaign actually shifted footfall, and back funding bids with hard numbers rather than estimates.
See how this maps to your sector on the industries hub, from airports to museums and cultural venues.
Better together with Wi-Fi and cellular
3D sensors answer “exactly how many, right here, right now”. Our Wi-Fi method answers “how do people move across the whole space”, and cellular analytics answers “where do they come from”. Run Xovis alongside them in a hybrid deployment and each method makes the others sharper: your sensors give Wi-Fi a precise ground truth to calibrate against, and Wi-Fi gives your sensor counts the context of the whole journey.
Privacy and GDPR, settled
Xovis sensors are built so that only metadata leaves the device, never a video stream, with several privacy levels for compliant operation. We build on that foundation rather than working around it: the data we process cannot identify anyone, and our footfall method is approved by a data protection authority. The result is analytics that are precise where it counts and defensible when someone asks how they work. See exactly how on the GDPR footfall analytics page.
Xovis 3D vs other counting methods
3D sensors win on point precision and occupancy. Add Wi-Fi or cellular when you need coverage and context beyond the sensor's field of view.

The compliance edge your sensors deserve
Xovis hardware keeps personal images inside the sensor. We pair that with the only footfall method in Europe approved by a data protection authority, so your analytics are precise and defensible.

By partnering with Bumbee Labs we have opened the door for our end-customers to radically change the way they plan and prepare for the future. They can look to attract more visitors and reform their offer to tailor it to the wants and needs of individuals in and around their sites. This can all be achieved without any additional investment in physical hardware thereby reducing costs, while bolstering their return on investment.
Frequently asked questions
I already own Xovis sensors. Can you process the data?
Yes, that is exactly what this is for. If you run Xovis 3D sensors and want better analytics, clearer dashboards or a GDPR-ready setup, we connect to your existing hardware over its standard data protocols. There is no need to replace anything you have already installed.
Which Xovis sensors do you support?
The PC2 series (PC2SE / PC2RE) for counting and analytics, the PC3 series for high ceilings and large areas, and the PF series for wide-area tracking, plus transport APC models. If you are not sure which models you have, tell us your setup and we will confirm compatibility.
Do you store images of people?
No. Xovis sensors process depth data on the device and export only metadata, never a video stream. We build counts and occupancy from that metadata, so no personal images are stored and no individual is identified.
Can I combine Xovis data with Wi-Fi or cellular measurement?
Yes. Xovis gives you exact counts and occupancy at the points that matter, while Wi-Fi and cellular add whole-space flows and catchment. Run them together in a hybrid setup and every method reaches the same dashboards and API.
What KPIs can I get from my Xovis sensors?
In and out counts, real-time occupancy, dwell time, queue length, zone flows, capture rate, and, with AI extensions, demographics, group counting and object detection. See the data deliverables page for the full catalogue.
