IoT: a step towards smarter cities. That is what Tre says after signing an agreement with IoT company Bumbee Labs. Under the agreement, the operator provides mobile connectivity.

Swedish company Bumbee Labs has developed solutions that efficiently and anonymously measure visitor flows in public places. It works by measuring Wi-Fi signals from smartphones and is today the only one of its kind approved by the Swedish Data Protection Authority. The company has now signed an agreement with Tre for mobile connectivity, which the operator sees as proof of quality. “The collaboration with Bumbee Labs shows our strength as a secure and reliable provider of the mobile network and connectivity solutions of the future. Bumbee Labs holds one of the most important keys to using IoT technology and creating smart cities, and it will be very exciting to work together,” says Adam Boström, Product Manager IoT at Tre.

What Bumbee Labs does is produce reliable statistics on how many people visit a particular area, how they move and how long they stay in a place. By analysing this data, companies that run shopping centres or shops can streamline and optimise their operations based on how people move. By turning to Tre, the company does not need to depend on fixed network connections; instead all data is handled via Tre’s IoT Control Centre. “With Tre’s IoT solution we get a more efficient and flexible mobile solution that will improve our work. It also feels very reassuring to have Tre as a partner now that we are expanding into the international market,” says Karl Samuelsson, CEO of Bumbee Labs.

Bumbee Labs is a Swedish company that today has pilot projects and customers in cities, airports, shopping centres, cafés and restaurants across Sweden, Finland, the Baltics and Russia.
